The B2 Audio Reference SQ63 Series stands as a premier loudspeaker system, expertly designed to enhance your listening experience. This series embodies a timeless philosophy, grounded in principles established two decades ago, and champions the profound impact of sound reproduction, transcending mere technical metrics.

This system is meticously engineered to operate in both a 2-way REF SQ61 (passive configuration) and a 3-way (active configuration), delivering the versatility needed to create an optimal soundstage for a wide array of original equipment manufacturer (OEM) and custom setups in any system.

REF SQ61 - 2 way crossover

2- OR 3-WAYS

The 2-way crossover uses a 4th-order Linkwitz–Riley configuration and offers bi-amping capability along with tweeter attenuation. These features allow for minimal overlap between the drivers, and the outputs remain in phase at all frequencies, minimizing phase cancellation. With a crossover slope of 24 dB set at 2000 Hz, the tweeter offers a wider range than the typical standard of today. 

The bi-amping feature allows you to use dedicated amplifiers for the woofer and the tweeter, made possible by the separate input terminals for the high and low sections (passive bi-amping). This configuration increases damping for each driver and reduces intermodulation distortion between the frequency ranges.

The 3-way configuration offers exceptional versatility. It can operate as a hybrid passive/active system—using the 2-way crossover while enhancing the midrange with a dedicated active network—or, for those seeking maximum performance, it can run fully active. A fully active setup unlocks advanced DSP tuning, precise driver control, and superior time and phase alignment, allowing the system to deliver a remarkably refined soundstage with greater clarity, depth, and realism.

REF SQ63 Tweeters

The REF SQ Tweeters  has 1-inch ceramic coated magnesium dome in the tweeter which offers several acoustic advantages. Ceramic materials are exceptionally rigid and lightweight, allowing for precise high-frequency reproduction with minimal distortion. This leads to crisper, more detailed sound and improved imaging in the upper frequency range.

The 3" midrange—designed to operate nearly as a full-range driver—features a multi-layered hexagonal carbon-fiber cone and matching dust cap for exceptional rigidity and control. The hexagonal layering pattern further reinforces the structure, minimizing flex and reducing breakup modes at higher frequencies. This results in highly accurate midrange reproduction, low distortion, and excellent transient response. The carbon-fiber dust cap ensures coherent cone movement and contributes to overall sonic consistency.

The voice coil uses a TIL (thermally stable, non-conductive) former that minimizes eddy-current losses and unwanted damping, preserving signal purity and improving sensitivity and midrange responsiveness.

The motor of both the 3" and the 6.5" is FEA-engineered for optimal magnetic flux and efficiency, and incorporates a copper shorting ring to reduce inductance modulation and distortion. This delivers cleaner output and precise diaphragm control, especially in the vocal range.

The 6.5" midwoofer features a multi-layered hexagonal carbon-fiber cone and matching dust cap, providing a lightweight yet extremely rigid structure. The hexagonal weave maintains cone integrity under high excursion, delivering tight, punchy bass and clear, distortion-free midrange.

The motor system is FEA-optimized for even magnetic flux and incorporates a copper shorting ring to reduce inductance, flux modulation, and harmonic distortion, ensuring precise control across the midbass and lower midrange.

The vented aluminum basket with SAFT technology enhances cooling, reduces compression, and maintains structural integrity under load. The vented pole piece, lined with smooth-cell foam, suppresses turbulence and mechanical noise, producing a cleaner, more transparent performance.
