As an exceptional addition to our esteemed Reference lineup, the REF8W sets a new standard in audio performance by exceeding the high benchmarks established by its predecessors.
With several 8″ woofers already complementing our product range, the REF8W presents a distinctive approach to sound reproduction. Featuring an impressive frequency response of 40 Hz to 6 kHz, this nearly full-range driver is sufficiently versatile to enhance any audio configuration.
INSIDE & OUTSIDE
The design showcases versatility across applications—whether as a woofer, midwoofer, or midrange driver, it excels in performance. Focused on home audio principles, it emphasizes efficiency, compact dimensions, and excellent acoustics. The REF8W complements existing systems or serves as a standalone upgrade.
It integrates well with current setups and enhances sound fidelity. The REF63 and RAGE63 can form a 3-way system with this 8″ driver, allowing for low-frequency reproduction without needing large enclosures.
THE TECH
To optimize the suspension with a narrower 2″ voice coil, we doubled the winding height by winding on both the in-& the outside of the former, solving power handling concerns. This method, while seemingly simple, requires precise winding to maintain the 4.2″/108 mm mounting depth. The composite cone and dust cap enhance efficiency, offering improved transient response. Coupled with a FEA-engineered motor featuring a ventilated pole piece and copper shorting ring, it reduces distortion. The REF8W is packaged in a custom flight case with soft-cell black foam, as excellence deserves special presentation.
