THE WONDER CHILD
Rampage—the name itself instills fear. This addition, the Rampage 6, is all about taking it to the next level. In 2016, our first 6.5″ woofer was released, and it has been continuously refined over the years. However, customers were demanding even more.
As a result, we looked into adapting the Rampage 8v2 to be scaled onto a 6.5″ platform. Using the same configuration of soft parts, progressive roll Nomex spiders, and carbon fiber cones, it certainly looked the part.
REAL RAMPAGE
Not just a marketing gimmick or a revision of a previous subwoofer, the Rampage 6 is a true adaptation of the Rampage 8. It even uses the same 2″ copper voice coils with ceramic coating.
The main difference in appearance is the magnet design. While not as wide as the Rampage 8″ (being 0.6″ narrower due to the physical dimensions of the basket), it has grown in depth, making the mounting depth the same as the 8″. The entire motor structure is 1″ taller, so the actual weight of the Rampage 6 is nearly identical to the 8″, offering a similar BL product as well.
The progressive roll, multi-layer spider design is made with efficiency and linearity in mind, while still being stiff enough to keep the moving parts centered. This is also reflected in the respectable resonance frequency.
